This site was created for a Peace and Conflict Studies course I took around the time of the Good Friday agreement.

While studying the Peace Process in Northern Ireland, I was shocked to find how badly current events are misrepresented and manipulated by the mainstream media.

I created this website in 1998 to provide a more balanced look at the causes of the 'troubles', as well as some valuable links and contacts. I have received quite a few critical emails over the years, saying that I am biased not balanced. Yes my friends, one sided presentations must be balanced with the other side. Still, I hope you can learn something here, as most issues have at least two sides as it were.

The source of the problems in the six counties otherwise known as 'Northern Ireland' seem to center around colonialism rather than sectarianism.

What is needed is representative government and equal rights for all.

Although the Good Friday Agreement was signed by all major political parties, and passed with 85% of the popular vote on both sides of the partition, it has been far from successful in the last four years.

I will do some updating of this site, although there are some other sites that are much better. Some of my original links are now dead, although others have evolved into very impressive websites.

Although the coursework is now dated, I decided to leave it as a reference to the time of the Good Friday signing, and because I believe the principles remain valid.

I have added some contact names and addresses, as well as some new websites. If there are others I should consider, or to report dead links please contact me.
